Problems with assigning reversers

Hi all,

I am converting a realworld 747 throttle so that it can interface with FSX (PMDG747). The throttle mechanism runs on a single pot that has the range (full reverse 0, idle 500, full thrust 1000) on a 8/8/8 analog input card. Can you tell me how to configure FS2Phidgets Ver4.3.86 to control the full range of thrust (full reverse to full thrust) using a single analog input.

Currently, I can only assign either the forward thrust by itself or the reverse thrust by itself but I am unable to get them to work as one "fs var assignment". I guess I need to make a custom fs variable but I cannnot get it to work both forward thrust and reverse .
