Hey i always wanted to build a Sim however never really had the room for such a project. However I have been thinking that I want to still make something. So I did get a brand new 3d printer and am wondering if anybody wants me to make and print any kind of part for your Sim I love a challenge and can charge a pretty inexpensive price for sim parts if your interested pm me thx and god speed
yes, same here. I have been printing some throttle handles, flaps, and speed brake handles.... they are awesome! 3d printing is great!

What is the process you go through to finish the products as I'm aware some finishes require some degree of sanding down smooth.
Same question here regarding finish.
finishing can be sanding, and/or acetone vapor bath. So far I have found that the texture of the parts is very nice after printing. For a smoother, glossy appearance the acetone vapor bath works very well, just go slowly. My A320 throttle and flaps handles came out AWESOME!
Don't forget how useful 3D printing can be for parts that are under the hood. Gears, brackets, etc. All good opportunities for 3D printed parts. is it possible to send me the files that you used for the parts u printed? how did you digitize them to have them Accurately printed?
They're from scratch designs and I'm not planning on releasing the models. Also, I didn't "have" them printed, I printed them myself. :)

Can you both offer your opinions on the make and model of 3d printer you bought please, with approximate cost? Also the software required to create the model if it doesn't come bundled with the printer package please.

Sorry you guys schools been hectic if you need something modeled I love doing that. To answer your question gkkes I have the robo r1 and have had my ups and downs. I would not recommend this to anyone though. They run for 800 dollars, if I were you ide get a untimaker 2 or up they are so much more reliable for sure. As for the model software I use sketchup but recommend to use 123d design. Hope this helps

I have the XYZ 3D printer. It works great out of the box and it's not very inexpensive (around $400). Haven't had too much time to play around with it but the parts I've printed so far came out great.

I bought the Printrbot simple metal with heated bed and have been very happy with the quality of the prints so far. It gets quite high reviews and is one of the cheaper printers available ready to print right out of the box. Fusion 360 is an amazing 3D modelling CAM package and its free for hobbyists. It has some very advanced features which may make it look a bit daunting to the beginner but the amount and quality of the Youtube tutorials are better than anything I have seen before.
This Jetranger collective head was printed in two parts on the Printrbot. I will eventually have the part professionally printed at Shapeways to improve both quality and strength but for 98% of my parts this level of quality is great. Actually most of the stuff I 3D print is behind the scenes and not seen. If you need a better finish I use "Durhams Rock Hard" water putty to coat the part, then sand and paint.
