Air Tahiti Nui orders another Airbus A340-300

Air Tahiti Nui has signed a firm contract with Airbus for another A340-300, which will be delivered in June 2005. The aircraft will become the fifth four-engined A340-300 in its fleet, which currently flies long-haul services across the Pacific and on to Europe - as well as to Japan.

With seating for 294 passengers in a first, business and economy layout, the latest A340-300 will be powered by CFM International CFM56-5C/P engines.

Much of Air Tahiti’s flying is on long-haul routes over the Pacific, over which it can count on the economy and operating flexibility of the four-engined Airbus A340, which is popular with our passengers around the world.

Air Tahiti Nui became the first A330/A340 family operator in the Pacific in 1998, when it began operations from its Papeete base. Today, Airbus A330s and A340s are in widespread service, or have been chosen by, most of the major “flag carriers” in the region, having become the aircraft of choice in the 250-375 seat class.

Air Tahiti Nui has been a key driver in helping to grow Tahiti’s tourism-dependent economy by providing frequent and reliable Airbus A340 services to its palm-fringed resorts.

Airbus’ A330/340 family is the clear leader in its category, with more than 800 firm orders and over 70 airline and VIP operators. Its modern design makes it a consistent leader in independent passenger surveys, and has unprecedented commonality with other Airbus aircraft.
