Can you add ATC prefix callsigns?????

:DThis may sound stupid,, but here goes....

I have Fs2004 and a Wilco A340, in the ATC drop down box for callsigns it allows me either the prefix "Airbus" , none or other FS defaults like Global frieghtways,
I know the model on the oustide view will still be in Airbus livery, but I would like to be called either "Virgin" or "Iberia" or even better "Alitalia" as I very ever look at the outside,

If anyone knows if you can add extra callsigns and how to do it...it would be an early Christmas present.

This can be done, from memory (a while since I did it,) in the aircraft.cfg file. You need to use an airline that is recognised by FS 9 or 10, or you can make your own lettering EG Whisky Oscar.

FS ATC will then call you by the callsign designated in the .cfg file

Sure you can change it and the three airlines you mention are all implemented by FS2004!

Go to your Airfcraft folder in the FS9 root directory and click on the aircraft folder of the aircraft you want to change:
For example

E:\FS2004\Aircraft\B737NG_POS\

In that folder you will see a numbe rof files, one of those files is yout Aircraft.cfg. Now MAKE A BACKUP OF THIS FILE befoe you edit anything. Just copy it and past it in the same directoy and you should be left with a new file called Copy of Aircraft.cfg.

Now, . right click on the Aircraft.cfg file and choose 'Open With and choose Notepad or Write.

You will see a bit that looks like this:

are the important ones here..... just put your own flight number in there and put the airline name in the right place, so you will have something like this

save the file .... start up FS2004 and go fly!!!

The only downside is that you will need to change that every time you want to change the callsign. What you can do is the following:

Copy the entire [fltsim.XX] entry form the aircraft that you are going to fly, for example:

Now the section in black is the important one, .. you will find in most aircraft that you will have several of these entries in each Aircraft.cfg file, the number will vary depending on the number of repaints or configurations of that aircraft that you have.

Now, past the above section into a new .txt file, we'll just use this for editing. It is very important that you change the new numbers in the first entry [fltsim.xx] to reflect the next free numbers in your Aircraft config.... for example if your last entry before the [genera;] section is [fltsim.12] then your first file will be [fltsim.13]

Now change the following line to reflect your new callsigns:

There, .. now select those new entries, make sure the .XX number is correct and past these between the end of your last [fltsim.xx] entry and the [general] entry in your Aircraft.cfg

Save the file and off you go , .. when you open your Aircraft Selection menu you should see three new aircraft, .. just chose the call sign that you want to fly and off you go :)

PS: on Avsim or Flightsim.com you might find the correct liveries for your Airbus!
