Hi Guys,
Im changing from mechanical to optical rotary encoders and was wondering if anyone using optical encoders could post a close up picture of hey they wired in the pullup resistors.
Thankyou

What optical encoders are you using. Brand name and part number? Oh, and what interface are you going to use it with

Hi Matt,
Im going to use the Grayhill 61C11-01-08-02 encoders with the FDS-G1. They have a 2 bit output so should work. Im trying to keep the wiring as neat as possible so was considering if it would be easier using terminal blocks and running 2 seperate wires for each output - one to 5v with resistor the other direct to the interface ,but I would like to see how others are doing it also.
Thanks
Gary
I'm not sure if this is helpfull, if not maybe someone else can jump in here. Check out these drawings:

Hope this helps.... :)
Hi Matt,
I have the schemetic for the encoder. Before soldering the resistors into the +5v I just wanted to see a photo of what others have done, to be sure Im actually on the right track. Electronics is not my specialty to say the least :-)
Gary
I know what you're going through... I'm not a electronics expert myself, but eventually I just dove in. Maybe this schematic is not so threatening:)

Thanks for the schematics Matt,
I Greatly appreciate your help.
