The future of PM navdata updates?

Well...all good things apparently do come to an end. The US Dept of Defense
intends to cease allowing public access to the DAFIF databases that most of
our navdata in the sim universe is based on, effective Oct 1st, 2005.

I'm assuming...but don't know for sure...that Project Magenta's navdata
updates were based on DAFIF like most others.

Clearly, this present a challenge for the community at large...either to find
another data source, or possibly also to create some sort of a
standardized sim universe that evolves somewhat more slowly than the real time updates
we've all grown accustomed to. Now is the time for that discussion to
begin.

Interesting times we are in.
