Final Glass Installation
I took out the piece of plate glass I had cut last week and threw it away. I thought it was too dangerous having untempered, very thin sheet glass installed in the cockpit.
The new windows have just been cut and installed. 1/2" plexiglass. That stuff cuts really easy with a sabre saw.
I'm not as happy with this as I would have been with real glass. It has a very slight blue hue to it and is not as clear as glass of the same thickness, but it's a lot cheaper, lighter, and most importantly, safer.
Can't be running my bier stein into plate glass y'know.
Note the new PPG decals:

If I didnt know any better, Id think you took part of a 727 and cut it off and placed it in your home. Well done Mike!

That would have probably been a lot easier than what I've done up to now!
Thanks Eric. :-D
Now I just have to get a TH2G and another couple of monitors.

At least the haze isn't purple....

Jimmy would have loved it.

Looks real nice!! Looking forward to getting some space to take things to the next level too...

I'd have liked to have had both halves, but I'll settle for at least the important half. I'm a little pressed for enough room to have an entire nose section in my house too.
I try not to look to the right too much while flying. ;)

That's why we only fly to airports with Left Traffic.

Yeah, but most holds suck unless you're IMC. ;)

I still dont understand why in the world you even need window glass in a sim Mike, after all the function of a window in an aircraft is to protect the pilots from massive Airblasts in the face, debris and of course pressurization none of these things you have to face. Thats like Putting wings on a sim it has no purpose whatsoever when you could spend that money on things that are more functional. After all, it will only reduce your viewing quality and isnt tht why we spend so much money on high end comps and projectors to get max quality visuals. *shaking his head* I really dont get it.But that JMO
