Just floating the idea.
As the prices drop daily, a 50" HD TV costs roughly the price of a good projector.
Definition and colors are better
Do not need a dark environment
Can be really close= smaller sim room
The only problem I see (appropriate word) is the framing of each TV.
Ideas, comments, experience welcome

I'd say it highly depends upon what you're building. Some simpit a projection tv just wouldn't work well with.

Theoreticly the bottom example would work well. You'd need 2 Matrox DualHead2Go boxes and use Windows XP horizontal-span mode all ran through the best single video card you can afford. The top example is the reason why you'd use triplehead projection on a curved screen and not LCD/tvs.Quote:

Well the bottom one does not work well and I am talking from experience. The center where the left and right come together is the problem. When you are on approach, you can not see the runway. The first one works much better.

I seen this a good while ago. I thought it would be out by now, but I would hope that it will be higher in size too. It looks very long, but not high enough.

I really think surround-screen will never be popular enough to target with mainstream hardware. Manufacturers simply can't justify the development for a small group of people. Until something comes along to make it appealing to mainstream it won't catch on or be affordable imho. It would be really cool to see OLED kits out in the future that might address some of these issues though.
tasmanet, what Bob is referring to and he is right is that the split in the monitors is where the runway should be if you are nicely on centreline on an approach or even in a take-off position. The runway is slitted between the monitors. Very irritating.Quote:

A triplehead2go is a good piece of hardware, but for a nice cockpit it probably would be better using for , so the middel window bar of the cockpit is really in the middle, where the bezels of the monitors also are.
However there is no way ( as far as I know of ) to get 4 screesn 3d accelerated.
Adding a 4 monitor beside a triplehead2go would be in window mode and that extra view can cost up to 40% gramerates.
I used projectors before and I loved it, but the extra sharpness ( resolution ) with lcd screens I prefer better.
Using 2 computers with WidevieW would work, however when using the th2go the front view is spread over 3 monitors and then the runway looks wider.

You could run it in windowed mode and force a fake resolution in the nvidia control panel. Windowed mode is a lot slower than full screen mode though.
There is a company in the UK that has come up with a way to fuse multiple LCD monitors together giving 180 - 320 degrees of seamless wrap around display that would serve our needs just fine if it ever gets to the US. They have examples of it on youtube under "seamless display". Sorry I don't have the link guys.

I've ran into a new way to get 4 LCDs hardware accelerated. I'm using 2 matrox DualHead2Go Digital and 4 24" LCDs. I then horizontal-span it all in Windows XP. This option isn't available in Windows Vista. This will allow you to use 4 1080p HDTVs and get full screen hardware acceleration. I can personally confirm below that this'll work:Quote:

Fs2004 should be possible with good framerates, but FSX with detailed scenery might be an issue.
The more screens the less framerates.
You would have to use a hight end pc.
