Hello from Finland
Hi to all fellow builders !
I am a GA pilot from Finland and i have been building my sim for ages, it seems that i always find something else to do than my sim.
My dream for a sim is a GA twinprop sim with fully working avionics and Garmin 530 GPS.
Last project is a CNC router to make my own panels...
Now i am planing to make the GPS available for others who want to have it !
Some progress so far:

Re: Hello from Finland
Those are awesome! Are you making the keys/buttons from acrylic or polycarbonate? I am just about to make some on my CNC and would love some pointers!

Re: Hello from Finland
Thank you guys for the warm welcome :p
The buttons i use are made by multimec, i just made a jig to my router and engrave the text to them. I bought mine from Farnell.
The font here is 3mm high, the cap is 6.5mm high and 12.5mm wide.

Re: Hello from Finland
Then do you hand paint or use white crayons to get the white text?

Re: Hello from Finland
Hi,
I just handpainted the groove with acrylic model paint and whipe. Next day a light sanding with 400 grit wetpaper, it looks better in real life than in those pictures...

Re: Hello from Finland
That is really excellent! Welcome to the forums, looks like you could provide much inspiration to those of us trying different techniques for self made panels. What screen are you using for the GPS?

Re: Hello from Finland
Hi,
I use a 5" lcd tv for the GPS, works ok but the picture is not so sharp as i hoped it to be. The display panel is identical to the PSOne.
The good thing is the size of the controller PCB (127mm wide and 97mm high) it fits behind the frontpanel.
