Lekseecon v9 LatLong query
Hi Nico
We have not conversed for some time I hope you and the family are well.
Thanks for your continuing work on giving us extra code for the missing parts.
I am about to alter my hardware to suit section 2.1 IRS_LatLon new code and have a couple of queries.
Looking at the example code for this included in the Leseecon package:
1) First I notice there is some test code for the irs selector switch at the start. Is this code working or a work in progress?
2) In the code for the Latitude part there is only mention of 5 digits which I think is correct as per my original hardware. There is a 6th digit listed as Var 9106 E1N1_H is this correct?
Regards
Mick

Re: Lekseecon v9 LatLong query
Hi Mick,
Good to hear from you. Yes all is well thank you. Yesterday we've returned from a two week vacation.
About your questions:
1) Yes this code is working. But ofcourse you should connect these 4 variables to a hardware rotary swith
2) Latitude is 5 digits indeed (see my Manual). This 6th digit in my test code is not used. I took these variables temporararly from the standby engine code (copy paste)
Regards,
Nico

Re: Lekseecon v9 LatLong query
Hi Nico,
Hope you had a good well deserved holiday, where did you go?
I have already got the display selector switch in my overhead panel.
The only diference now to me is I was previously using led's for the N,W,S,E indication so I will now replace these with two segments.
I have built a panel for the warning indications but I have still to connect it up to my cards sometime this week.
This includes a G/S inhibit and test switches.
In your supplied code for this there is an led for GND, is this led required for the warnings system to work. I have looked in manuals and not sure where this is located?
Thanks again
Mick

Re: Lekseecon v9 LatLong query
Hi Mick,
We made a round trip through Mid and Northern Germany; one of the places we stayed was OstSeebad Sellin at insel Rügen (near Poland). Unfortunately we had rather bad, rainy weather.
About the EICAS Warnings. Do note that lekseecon supports a real 767 (different from the Level-D implementation).
A real 767 has two leds in the GS Inhibit switch, one for GND and one for PROX gs inhibit, see: Boeing 767: EICAS Caution

Re: Lekseecon v9 LatLong query
Mick & Nico
I may be wrong but it seems that G/S Inhibit just need only one signal
- "GPWS ALERT DISC OUT" and that both compartments
(GND and PROXY) are fired by the same signal.

Re: Lekseecon v9 LatLong query
Hi Per-Erik,
The "GND" and "PROX GS inhibit" leds are indeed fired by the same signal (as lekseecon does). However, the "PROX GS inhibit" is fired (by lekseecon) if you push the GS Inhibit switch; the "GND" led then remains unlit.
One surely needs two signals. However, the question arises (now to me) whether one signal should not light "GND PROX" and the other "GS INHIBIT" (which seems more appropriate to me)? If so I have to update lekseecon accordingly...

Re: Lekseecon v9 LatLong query
I will be back home next week and recheck the boeing electrical scheme and logic, but as far as I remember, the PROX G/s inhibit light is lighted alone when the pushbutton is pressed to inhibit mode5 GPWS aurals.
when GPWS operates the GND PROX trigger, both lights comes on.
Again I will recheck next week to be sure about.

Edo

Re: Lekseecon v9 LatLong query
Nico, Edo
As far as I know (check SSM 34-46-01/Sheet 2) this annunciator is as any other annunciator
- just double size and including a switch as well. Looks like it's a Korry 433 but used as annunciator
and the switch is configured as momentary (not latching).
GND-prox.JPG
I use a transistor and a variable backlight power (nominel 12V) in all
K433 and K434 to get brightness control (both static and auto) and I've wired
the Led part of GND PROX GS Inhibit like this (it may be wrong - lets see what Edo finds out).
Led-driver.jpg
Anyway - thx for excellent work Nico (and Edo).
I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of the Photo transistor approach which is in there
right now and take the Lekseecon road....

Re: Lekseecon v9 LatLong query
Hi Nico,
Too bad about the rain but hope it did not spoil it too much. Your trip sounds good though, with I suspect many interesting sights.
It has only stopped raining here in the last few days after many weeks.
Yes, I thought it might be two led's in the switch. I have now found the entry for it in the Boeing manual which is below (sorry about the format and lack of switch picture, it would not copy them):
1
GND -- 2
PROX -- 2
G/S INHB
1 (Switch) Ground Proximity Glide Slope Inhibit (GND PROX G/S INHB)
Switch
Push – inhibits the ground proximity GLIDE SLOPE caution when below 1,000
feet radio altitude
2 Ground Proximity (GND PROX) Light
Illuminated (amber) – a ground proximity caution exists
GPWS Immediate-Alert Modes
GPWS immediate alerts are provided for the following:
• altitude loss after takeoff or go-around
• excessive and severe descent rate
• excessive terrain closure rate
• unsafe terrain clearance when not in the landing configuration
• excessive deviation below an ILS glide slope
• windshear
Aural Alert Visual Alert Description
TERRAIN

Pushing the GND PROX TERR OVRD
switch to OVRD inhibits the alert.
TOO LOW,
TERRAIN
GND PROX light Unsafe terrain clearance while too far from
any airport in the terrain database.
Pushing the GND PROX TERR OVRD
switch to OVRD inhibits the alert.
GPWS immediate-alert warnings are accompanied by:
• red PULL UP light illuminating
• Master WARNING lights illuminating
• aural alerts
If illuminated, pushing a Master WARNING/CAUTION Reset switch resets the
Master WARNING lights but does not inhibit the GPWS warning.
GPWS immediate-alert cautions are accompanied by:
• GND PROX light illuminating
• voice aural alerts

GLIDE SLOPE GND PROX light Deviation below glide slope.
Volume and repetition rate increase as
deviation increases.
Pushing the GND PROX G/S INHB switch
cancels or inhibits the alert below 1,000 feet
radio altitude.
SINK RATE GND PROX light Excessive descent rate.
TOO LOW,
FLAPS
GND PROX light Unsafe terrain clearance at low airspeed with
flaps not in landing configuration.
Pushing the GND PROX FLAP OVRD
switch to OVRD inhibits the alert.
TOO LOW,
GEAR
GND PROX light Unsafe terrain clearance at low airspeed with
landing gear not down.
Pushing the GND PROX/CONFIG GEAR
OVRD switch to OVRD inhibits the alert.
Thanks also to Per-Erik and Edo.
It looks as though there are two led's but they both illuminate the GND PROXY warning light and they are only cancelled if the G/S switch is pressed. So I hope I can use the led (one) in the G/S switch for them and on pressing this the led will go out.
Regards
Mick

Re: Lekseecon v9 LatLong query
Hi Mick,
"so I hope I can use the led (one) in the G/S switch for them and on pressing this the led will go out."
No, it is just the opposite, if you press the momentary G/S switch the light will go on, as and indication that you have switched off GPWS Mode 5 alerts (G/S). Pressing it again will make it go out.
Did a quick scan over the text you copied from the Manual, everything in there is implemented by lekseecon, the question remains: what happens if you press the G/S Inhibit switch. What text has to light up? PROX GS INHIBIT or GS INHIBIT....?
rgrds,
Nico
