Hi All.

I have noticed while flying from/to my local regional airport in FS9 that the PAPI is on the wrong side. It differs on the real runway. I was wondering how many more airports could be the same in FS. I will have a look into this to see if there is a predefined rule or ICAO standard on this, or if all FS runways are the same. Anyone else noticed this?

Hi all,
Offered for sale are two genuine 1996 Boeing 737-300 yoke chart holders which have been upgraded to 737NG. The original paper and plastic decals were in very poor condition so I have replaced them with engraved plastic checklists as per the later Boeing NG. The yellow movable buttons are missing but they would not be hard to replicate if required. I had already bought new accurate working replicas from SimWare at a price of $250 to fit to my fibreglass yokes before these two came into my possession with a pair of real yoke handles I bought recently. The original chart holders are surplus to me now as I have chosen to use the new chart holders in my simulator.

Hi everyone.

I need your help for PM CDU.

I have a brand new FDS CDU which is connected to the same PC as PM CDU, on a second screen from the video card, dedicated to the CDU itself.
The resolution for this screen is set at 800x600 with 75 Hz.

Within the FDS controller eveything works fine : the screen and all the keys.
In the FDS configuration I choosed "Project Magenta Boeing CDU/FMS" and "Captain".

I changed the PM CDU.ini file with the setting "FULL=On" that should give me a full screen display, without the frame.

But it doesn't work : in the FDS CDU screen the PM CDU stil has its frame and is not displayed in full screen.
Its the same if I pull the CDU display to the main screen.
Sometimes I find that the CDU.ini file has been backward changed to "FULL=Off" by itself.

Can you please help me to find how to have this PM CDU to be displayed in full screen ?

Thank you and best regards.

Hi everyone,

i'm new in this forum so, so sorry if this is not the right place to post this question.

i'm building a cockpit, it's intended to be used at a flight school, to get students introduced into flight, and to practice emergencies.
i'm using LCD instruments with rotary encoders on it so you can configure them like the real ones. And we use a saitek pro flight yoke and rudder pedals,

it 's generally based on a c172 cockpit.

now, it's time to build the radiostack, and we want smth like the bendix king stack with 2 comm radios, 2 nav radios , ADF and xpndr. (Like the one is displayed in FS9 radiostack)

does anyone knows where can i found any diagram to print de acrilic faceplate??

i want smth like this (but with digital buttons for xpndr)

Hello All,

I'm having a rubbish time trying to get a GA trainer performing properly. There is a requirement to divide approximately 225° of curved wall into 5 sectors (separate views) in FSX and it has brought the system to its knees. I have it setup for 2D surround and have done edge blending with Immersive Display Pro. The machine should be sufficient with the following:

1. i5 760 (4 cores, no HT)
2. 8GB DDR3
3. 240GB SSD
4. nVidia GTX680 (4GB)

I need to know how top pull more than 30FPS. I'm currently limited to no more that 9!!! I've applied all the famous tweaks, and even with display settings down to bugger all, the program is groaning. Interestingly, the GPU is only maxing 40% and the CPU sometimes pegs 2 cores, but not always. ANY ASSISTANCE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

:)
Cheers

I have recently purchased a CS dual seat trainer. I have installed their latest drivers. I have everything working except the landing gear lever and the LED lightbar that illuminates the deck. All my guage lights and indicator lights are working except my 6 pack (I need to install PM this week).

The gear lever is making contact to the microswitches. Does anyone have a hunch what it could be? Pressing "g" on the keyboard drops the gear and runs the indicator light cycle, just can't get the lever to do it.

I am tryinG to Get some layout information for the Dash 8. Does anybody know if there are any drawinGs/plans showinG positions of GauGes, switches, monitors etc as well as functionality?
There is plenty of this type of info for the 737 which is more popular, but I can't find much on the Dash 8?
Is anybody buildin this cockpit, and can perhaps advise me?

Hi there,

I had big trouble with my 2 years old formerly called "White Pro" TQ after a total PC crash.

I tried to get it running for 1 week by myself (but must confess have little experience in SIOC programming) with
absolutely NO results, but got my indicator motor running all the time....

Then a friend of mine gave me this eMail adress:

obarkay@revolution-simproducts.com

He mailed back to me within 4 hours, apologising that it lasts so long !!! Then we meet via skype and teamviewer in my cockpit- he only needs 30 minutes to get the TG running perfectely!

Great guy and very kind- it was a pleasure to work with him !!:D

My advice: You can help Oral by downloading the latest sioc software from Revolution simproducts site and install it like it is described in their manual ( easy to do, even when you know nothing about SIOC with their great step-by-step manual and/or video). You can connect your throttle via the (two) USB cables and download the Throttle controll programm.

But the downloadable .ssi files were ABSOLUTELY useless in my case!! Oral provided me with a total other one and he did the whole programming of the throttle for me. Now it works like a charm after

only 30 Minutes !!!

So I want to say " thank you " again here!

And maybe this will threat will help others who are near to go crazy by trying to get the Throttle running by themselfs-in my case it was just a waste of time....;)

BTW: I tried all other eMail adresses on the revolution simproduct site with no results- "support@revolution-simproducts.com" even seemed to be down. All mails was returned back to me....So try Oral´s above !

At last: Sorry for my bad english...

I currently am using fs9 on windows 7 64 bit, I am trying to get the 180 degree views in fs9 using the windowmaker software and using 3 windows and one transparent background but I am still not getting 180 degree views? will I need to make 3 undocked views or one view spanned across the top 3 monitors? here is my flt. file and is this format only for fsx and not fs9? thank you

OK so I've got the software running very well. Certainly enjoying the FPS in FSX with no virtual cockpit to draw!

I have one or two issues I need some advice on:

1. I have disabled joystick input in FSX and calibrated the single throttle on my Saitek ST290 in the fmgs_config software. I have set the positions for TOGA, MCT, CLB , IDLE etc but seem to have trouble setting to CLB/SPD - it seems to operate the autothrottle but the upper ECAM says AUTO FLT A/THR LIMITED in orange and -THR LEVERS .......MOVE in blue. If I move the throttle lever up a bit it hits MCT. I matched the detents up to markers on the throttle so I know where to position it, but auto always produces the above messages. No matter how far apart I set MCT and CLB, they seem to jump immediately from one to the other on the ECAM, or flicker between the two...

2. When testing T.O config, pressing the 'T' key while highlighting ANY of the displays, does not confirm the config, even though the ECAM is in the green. the keys for cycling through views on the SD work fine. Likewise setting GND spoilers armed/disarmed does not work. EDIT SPOILERS now Working

3. lower Barberpole on speedtape does not recede as flaps extended and speed reduced, approach phase activated. Then seems to get upset and alpha floor at 2000 feet on approach, CAT3 dual... This of course might be me doing something silly, but it doesn't happen to me in the airbus X extended (no laughing...!)

Thanks again :)

First timer here and very excited to have found this! - I'm very early on in my build, but a quick question - I've checked the manual and I can't find a mention of a COMM radio panel - could anyone point me in the right direction, please?

Many thanks

Hello,

For those who did not follow in the main thread, please have a look at message #656 of the beta 30 thread:

In short, I decided to change the navigation database format. Aerosoft should be able soon enough to provide the new format in their navdataPro product.
Until then, be careful when buying new cycles, as soon, ONLY AEROSOFT will be able to provide sets for my software.

Also, there will be no new versions until the database thing is sorted out and ready to work.

Best regards,

I built a B747-400 MCP using Open Cockpits displays and encoders. When I turn the IAS/MAC encoder the V/S display blinks and sometimes changes, the IAS/MAC display doesn't want to increase unless I turn it very slowly. I changed my Mastercard and Display card but apparently that wasn't the problem. I checked continuity on my cables. There must be something in my SIOC code causing the problem but I can't find it. Could someone check my code and see if there is a problem? I copied this file from Manlol Velez and changed the input/output numbers to match mine.

I had a very strange thing happen yesterday. I was installing MegaSceneryEarth 2.0 Colorado and when I went to my Scenery Library the names of all my scenery addons were gone, all 164 of them. The checkmarks were there but the names were missing. I tried editing some of them and the location was correct but the name would still not display. I opened a flight to check and the scenery was there and looked ok. What could have happened and how do I correct it?

Hi all

I have hooked up my rotary encoder to leo's BU0836X board using 30 and 31. Hooked up the wires, middle to gnd and the outer wires to 30 and 31. I open up the control board settings, when I rotate the encoder to the left "30" lights up but when I continue to rotate to the left 31 lights up then 30 and so on.
Is this normal.

Cheers

Hi all,

the back rest of my 737 classic chair has a special mechanic. It seems that the power from the lever is transmitted over a oil filled hydraulic system, consists of two tubes and a branch to the transformers in the back rest. It´s leaking an I couldn´t get it tight. Does anybody have ideas, where I can get replacement parts for that? Can I convert this hydraulic mechanic into a ordinary one with bowden cable.

On the photo below left you see the cylinder of the transforming mechanic from the lever and the tube and on the right side the cylinder on the back rest

Hi,

Lately I'm having this problem : When I undock my CDU's (PMDG 737NGX) and drag them to a 2nd monitor they stop updating when pressing a key (nothing shows on the CDU) When I drag them back to the main monitor I can see that they in fact show the input I just made. When I try to resize them they go black. The same for the lower EICAS.
I've flown in this configuration for years without any problems. I did install some new programs and airports but after uninstalling them and rebuilding the .cfg file I still have this problem. I checked the resolution and color depth in the settings and checked the .cfg file for old graphics entries.
I hope someone here has an idea otherwise I have to do a full reinstall, something which I'm not looking forward to.

Hi, We have a Cessna 172 cockpit with Simkits USB instruments.
Most Simkits stuff works fine, but we have issues with the altimeter and flap switch.

The altimeter works fine for long periods, but moves suddenly 1000 feet (mostly down), altimeter still works but indicated altitude is now off by 1000 feet.
Altimeter in FSX is showing correct altitude. The fix is stopping and starting the USB interface software from Simkits, this resets the altimeter to zero, and we can connect to FSX and get correct readings.

The other problem is the USB flap switch, it stops working after 5-10 minutes of flight. The strange thing is that the flap in FSX also stops working. A reset of FSX fixes this problem.

All other Simkits stuff are working fine. (IAS, T&B, Attitude, RPM, vertical and heading)
Anybody encountered similar problems?

Have tried Simkits support, but they do not respond at all. Past experiences with Simkits support have been excellent so this is strange. Are they out of buisiness?

Regards

Hi Folks.

With the vast number of switches and buttons employed in a 737 overhead, I am wondering how the can all be made to function within the aircrafts programme? Interfacing for instance a landing gear switch using "Hagstrom's" KE72 module to simulate "G" on the keyboard is straight forward, but how can all the overhead switches/buttons be interfaced to actuate with those on the aircraft?
Do they individually have a key press that can be reached by Hagstrom or Bodner, or is there another way of doing this? Obviously, hitting the switch or button built in to the actual overhead, has to operate the switch within the aircrafts programme for that function to operate.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
so i've been reading a lot about the implementation of arduino but i'm facing a lot of doubts and probably some of my own stupidity is stoping me to understand the programing. so i've stoped by the forum to see if guys can help me with some code. so i now have 2 arduino cards, one uno and one mega, let's stick with the uno for now. i've done what jim instructed to get it to display on my character lcd the com 1 and the altitude and airspeed, it works great but it's not i want it to show. what i want is this: the top line saying without change "vertical speed" showing all the time and the bottom line displaying the assigned vertical speed of the mcp. i dont need any rotary encoder associated i just needed it to show that indication. also i've bought an jy-lm1640 from from fasttech since dealxtreme were sold out and now i have 16 digit 7segment board i would like to associate along side with the uno but showing mcp altitude set, heading sel, speed and course. is this possible? how do i do that? can anyone pointe me in the right direction? i'll be very gratefull

Hello all,

I'd encountered a strange problem that happened under special situation. I wish I'm lucky enough that some veterans here can help me.

I'm using a special monitor setting for my cockpit build. Main monitor is a 24 inch 16:10 monitor in DVI-D, a 800*600 9 inch small monitor in D-sub, there 2 are connect to a Nvidia GTX680 card. Then 2 8 inch usb-powered monitor use displaylink chips. I use extend desktop mode for all extra monitors.

This setting works very well under normal desktop ,Falcon4 BMS (using MFDE and CPD software) and DCS A-10C(need to use SoftTH).

But when I running FSX, I have trouble to drag gauge window to the 9 inch monitors. The gauge graphic will stop update and stuck there. This is only happened when window move over 1/3 or 1/2 area of the monitor display area, and only when any usb-powered monitor is active. If I disable both usb-powered monitor, the 9 inch monitor will back to working. So it's not a hardware issue I guess. There are something I need to tweak of modify.

I know very few people use usb-powered monitor so it's few hope to get respond. I'm just gathering information that possible to cure this issue. Thanks in advanced.:)

Hello
everybody!

I'm happy to announce that after lot of detailed work I
just finished the design of a new board that is capable to drive up to 38 relays
and which directly plug into Opencockpits mastercard, using all of its 38
outputs, that means that you will have a simple IDC cable connecting the relay
board to the mastercard and you are done!

Here are some features of the board:

Easy interfacing through 40pin IDC connector and screw terminals for the
connections to the relays.

20 Relays SPDT rated 250VAC 10A or 30VDC 10A

8 Relays SPDT rated 250VAC 10A or 30VDC 10A with protection diode to connect
inductive loads such as solenoids, coils or motors up to 3A

2 Relays DPDT rated 250VAC 10A or 30VDC 10A

4 Relay configurations logic commanded (2 relays per channel) for uses like
changing a bus voltage (like Korrys Dim function from 28V to 12V)

2 Relays SPDT with the possibility to have external driven coil by jumper
setting on the board

Variable feed voltage to the board from 5 to 35VDC max. The onboard voltage
regulator will supply 12VDC for the relay coils and status leds

One led for each relay to monitor its status and one Led to monitor Feed
input

Properly sized tracks to match maximum rating of relays

4 copper pours with screw terminal to use to common any kind of bus you like

Possibility to configure the board for your needs: you can mount and use
only 1 , 7, 12, 34 or the number of relays u really need to save cost

Board dimensions: 200 x 225 mm

Those are just the major feature but maybe I forgot something. It can be a
really useful board for all sim builders to keep things simple, safe and
clean.

Board alone (along with components list) is in presale at 20€ until June
the 23rd. After this period ends you will pay a second part of 30€ for a total
of 50€ + shipping instead of future price of 60€ + shipping.

Possibility to have the board assembled and tested for additional cost on
request
On request You can watch some pictures of rendered image of the board.

Any question feel free to ask me!!

Thanks

Dear Jim,

I congratulate you on your work. I have a question about your interface I can't seem to find.

Can your interface query an LVar in FS?

You have many FS attributes on your UI including 3 I use for LEDs - Nose, Left and Right Gear state. However, in building a Lear 45XR cockpit, the ECIAS has many warning/caution messages. In the "real" 45XR, when they occur, it lights a 2 LED button either with CAUT or WARN (different colors). The pilot can then turn off the LED in the button by pushing the button. I would attach an image of the gauge but the insert image icon doesn't seem to work. I have attached the image.

I have coded the ECIAS gauge to set an LVar that the button code reads to turn the appropriate CAUT or WARN color on (in the FSX gauge as of now). I want to light the appropriate LED on the instrument panel using the Arduino UNO. And then shut the LVar off do with the button (which I know how to do with FSUIPC and Lua).

Can Link2FS query the LVar? Or can you give me some direction of how to link the Arduino UNO IDE to FSUIPC? I'm having a hard time finding comprehensive information on the internet about FSUIPC and Arduino. The is much about FSUIPC and Pokeys.

Thanks so much,

Hello,

As most of you know, a number of my items on my 146 build interact directly with FS9 thru FSUIPC (landing gear, flight controls, etc), or Open Cockpits (engine gauges, flaps).

Although there are many good 146 products on the market. I am using a generic 146 download, using the airfiles from the Baepanelproject webpage.

I am running a parallel simulation..with hydraulic panel, APU control etc due to the fact that I cannot tap into the actual operation of the switches etc. (thru an interface) if i was to use a product like Quality wings, or even the free download panels as can be found on the baepanelproject (not to mention FSpanel studio would not allow me to move gauges around and re-size them (in the baepanelproject there is a write protect of some kind which will allow the gauges to be moved and re-sized, but they do not operate)

In other words, some of these panels do not run or control the actual hydraulic system in flight sim, however the lights and gauges react as if they did. Maybe one day I will be able to tap into these pay aircraft that have all the bell and whistles and actually control the system..but for now

Here are some pictures of the new hydraulic PWM circuit...it is in the final test stages and will be installed on the attached hydraulic panel in the next couple of weeks.

Hello Everyone!

I'm a fresh college graduate, and a flight instructor currently. I'm currently pursuing the flying dream. Someday hoping to fly larger aircraft.

I've been an Avid flight simmer since the early 2000s. I started off with FS2000, FS2002 Pro, FS2004. FS2004 currently is my bread and butter due to PC limitations and I prefer it over FSX. I've started to play a lot with X-plane 9 on my macbook pro, and I have had the chance to try the X-plane 10 demo and pump up the graphics on my relative's iMac. X-Plane 10 has captured my attention as the best flight simulator platform to date.

Being a real pilot, and working around airplanes all day as you can imagine flight sim with a keyboard and a joystick on a 20" LCD just doesn't cut it for me anymore.

I'm wanting to start to pick up some hobbies. Flight simming is something I love to do. I've spent a LOT of time on VATSIM and I have been involved with virtual airlines over the years. I found this forum, and I see lots of great stuff to help me learn how to build my own home cockpit. So I decided to join. Money is tight, but time is a little more. I might lurk more than post, but I hope over the years I will get to a point where I can participate and build a nice home cockpit after getting ideas from what I read around here.

Here are my current goals:

- Buy or build a powerful PC to run X-Plane 10 (does anyone have a suggestion of Mac vs. PC?)
- Obtain a multi monitor display to give a real cockpit feel.
- Obtain a nice yoke.
- Build up a center console with a radio stack, auto pilot, FMC, Throttle quadrant (including flaps, spoilers, fuel cutoff switches).
- Create an overhead systems panel.

This is something I think I can eventually obtain with my financial situation and can be versatile to more than one type of aircraft.

I appreciate any suggestions, tips, questions, or ideas anyone has to offer. I hope this forum is as valuable as I think it is at first glance.

Hi Nico. I have three problems using the new Lekseecon v9.5. 1) On pushing the battery button the Right Gen push led comes on and will not go off on pressing the button. It goes off only when the battery button is pressed again to off. I have changed the code as per your 2.8 example.2) The cabin alt and pressure displays are lit in cold and dark prior to pressing the battery button. They remain lit when switching the battery off again. 3) My annunciators for seatbelts and no smoking are not lit on pressing the battery button. If both of the switches are moved to the on position and then back to off they then light up. They then continue to work as normal. When switching the battery off they remain lit. I have tried using the batteryoff state and others instead of cold and dark and also the alternate cold and dark text. If I go back to v9.4 all are working correctly again. Sorry if this post looks strange, it would not let me use the return key and other functions. Regards Mick

Hi all
I am currently setting up the visual side of my simulator. I am using an LCD monitor to display my instrument panel and I have a sanyo short throw projector for my outside visuals.
I have just finished mapping and resizing the gauges on my bitmap to fit my monitor. I did a test tonight but have a question about undocking windows in FSX.

My LCD monitor needs to remain in full screen view so it can display the panel correctly. How do I open a new window and move the new window to appear on the projector screen.
I have done it in windows mode but I need keep the panel on My monitor in fullscreen view?

Cheers
I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place and I apologise if I did not. I'm a newb when it comes to switches so if someone could point me to a simple diagram it would be great. I am guessing that C1 is the flppos value (ie FS setting) in the aircraft config file and D1 is the flpset value (ie PM display value on the GC)
