OpenCockpit's 10th anniversary


COME CELEBRATE OUR 10th ANNIVERSARY !

Opencockpits celebrates 10 years of existence!

In this time we have developed many ideas, helped thousands of users, it has evolved to become a world leader in simulation and construction of cabins and Opencockpits wants to celebrate it with you in style.

During these months hundreds of awards are raffled, and there will be two contests so that everyone can participate. It is an unprecedented initiative, to encourage participation in the hobby of creating simulation cockpits.

The photo contest will reward those photographs that show cockpits or simulation jobs created by the users. The prizes will be:

Important News for FSUIPC Users

Due to a breach in the security of the GlobalSign certificate used to confirm that FSUIPC is a valid and safe package, the certificate is being revoked. This will require ALL users of the software – whether registered or otherwise and using FSUIPC3 or FSUIPC4 – to need to download and install new versions.
Full details are available by visiting Pete Dowson’s post here on his support forum. Download links are available at simFlight; here, or Schiratti.com; here. For a short time, the following direct links to FSUIPC3 (3.999z2) and FSUIPC4 (4.90) at Dropbox are also live.

Please note that this is not a security breach within FSUIPC itself – it is only the security certificate that has been compromised.

If you aren’t sure what FSUIPC is, or whether you have it, full details can be found on the product pages at simMarket and it can be found within your Flight Simulator 9/modules, Microsoft Flight Simulator X/modules or Prepar3D/modules folder. If you have a file entitled “FSUIPCx.dll” (x is dependant on the FS version) then you need to update, in order for FSUIPC to keep working.

NTHUSIM Head Mounted Display (HMD)

Back in 1995 Nintendo released the "Virtual Boy", a head mounted display console. About 750,000 units shipped world wide, which made it a commercial failure. But the dream never died and to this day home-brew code is still being written for the Virtual Boy!

Nintendo weren't the only ones making HMDs. Atari actually released their HMD console two years earlier, in 1993. It was called the Jaguar but it didn't survive long. There were several others and many of the other companies of that time moved on to military industrial applications.

One of the big issues with HMDs is the need to correct the geometry for display. That meant complicated, heavy, and expensive recti-linear optical components are needed. They make sure that every pixel is visible where it should be, which was especially important because in those days resolution was worse than it is now.

As you might be following from our web site and various forums, Revolution Simproducts is rapidly growing by adding additional products to its portfolio to make life easier for hobbyists. Such rapid growth is resulting some unplanned but necessary actions to be taken to coop with the demands of our customers. As a result of this we have found the need to move our production facility to additional places as well as reorganizing the company structure to prevent any unwanted delays or results in the future.
