Ok!! Basically what we do when we git to the office is Hit on the female stewardess... Not kidding! After that you remember you have to go and check the papers...
You donīt fill nor prepare any flight plans that is the Dispatchers work through a computer Dispatch system that selects the Best route according to weather and basically prepares the route for us and the weight and balance for Cargo loading and the distribution of passengers...
What you basically get that is in the case of my Airline is we get an Envelope... Inside the envelope you have 2 copies of the OPERATING FLIGHT PLAN that includes your routing, dispatch release, the plane tail number name of Captain and F/O and all type of info regarding the Flight like ETPīs en route (Equal Time points) Diversion fields weather for the routing, of course the Forecast weather for our arrival airport and alternate, winds forecast at different levels any OEBīs (operating engineering Bulletins) any MEL itmes that is Minimum Equipment list items that may affect the flight... Basically these are things broken in the plane that have a certain period to be fixed and the plane can be dispatched without them...
Furthermore you have Notams in the Flight plan for most enroute airports, and of course the Fuel that includes total Fuel on board, the amount expected to be burnt enroute, how much you will burn to the alternate, Taxi Fuel and reserves and all the legal Fuel you need!!
Then you have the Weather maps: Weather Depictions Charts, winds a loft, surface maps and I can`t remember the name of the other right now LOL!!
Basically the Captain and myself go through those papers if we think we need more fuel we ask for it cause of weather deviations or the arrival airport weather forecast might not be that good and we might need to deviate or expect holdings!! Once everything checked out the Captain signs the flight plan and I hand the copy of the flight plan to the Office dispatcher and ask for more Fuel if needed or any errors or changes to be made into the Flight plan...

After that we take our stuff and head to the plane and say goodye to all those beautiful ladies :)

Regards,

Roberto
