Hi all,

I have been reading and searching for some time now.
What i want is: make an avionics panel like the saitek one, but do it myself. I am the lucky owner of an cp mcp which works great. On 737,s but not on the carenado stuff i love to fly.
So project x started. Make an autpilot and nav panel.

Why not the saitek route? Because i want control over the output.
I cant do anything with the mcp as its software driver is the boss and i have no control over what it has to do. Sometimes i can control the ap of a ga aircraft, mostly i can't
I fear the saitek panels are the same. I want to use fsuipc to give me as much control as i can.

But now i cant seem to understand the way to go. I need 7 digits and switches, but which io card suits me best i cant figure it out.

Any ideas? Tips? I could also take the mcp apart and rewire it to an i/o. Board... But i would hate do that..

Greetings,
Eric

Eric,

Have a look at the Teensy IO board at http://www.pjrc.com. I am using this card to build a boeing 737 NAV radio (see http://alt7700.net).

The creator of the Teensy board, Paul Stoffregen, has created a plugin to use with X-plane. The board will hold and run the code you upload to it. I have no experience in electronics, but managed to build that NAV radio.

Since you need 7 digits, you might want to look at the LED control library (which I used): http://www.pjrc.com/teensy/td_libs_LedControl.html

There's a nice thread running at the X-plane forums: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=55952&st=290

I'd really go with this board. I also bought a Pokeys56U card, which is a nice card, but it is windows only whereas the Teensy is cross platform (Mac/Win/Linux)!

Just my $0.02, HTH

Hi Bas,

Thanks for the reply. I took a look at the board. For xplane it seems like a good option, but i use fsx and that is not (yet) supported. My programming skills are not that good to do it myself.

Greetings,
Eric

Eric,

Another option is to buy the Pokeys56U card with the Display Driver card from http://www.flightsimparts.eu. It works with PROSIM737 and FSUIPC or FSUIPC by itself.

In case you don't want to do any programming, you could go with the PROSIM737 option, which supports this card. Have a look at http://www.flightsimparts.eu/Simulator_PoKeys_7Segment.html.

I have one Pokeys56U card and one Display Driver board which I don't think I'm gonna use. If you're interested, PM me.
