View Full Version : Multiple FSX installations but "IN SYNC with SOUND" for Separating Sounds.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to run multiple installs of FSX on different PCs but with the idea of being able to use the sound from each one?

We did a test using Wideview but that only synchronises the views & has nothing to do with the audio.
The question of separating sounds has been a long standing question with little success.

If it were possible to run a couple of FSX programs that were both running completely & have the engines only on one & the navigation & morse sounds on the other is what Ive been trying to achieve.

Has anyone ever tried to do it this way with any level of success?

Not sure, but it is possible to run those sounds on separate sound devices on the same PC. For example, my motherboard has onboard sound with 5.1 channel output on the back panel and a header for a headphone jack and mic on the front panel. These are treated as separate sound devices (enabled in the bios). I send the radio sounds to the front panel sound device and everything else to the back panel sound device.

Hi wledzian,

I would be most grateful if you could expand on how you do this. I have a similar set up (on board sound for the 5:1 and headset and mic at the front). I have just got the new FS2Crew and would really like to seperate the sounds so I have just the voice control on the headset. All I am able to do so far is get the whole sound - engine, cabin etc through the headset. It is sometimes quite difficult to hear ATC too.

Hi Howard
Hows everything going, will have too try & catchup soon , been flat out with the little fella. The only thing i can think of for some sound stuff which works over network is Project magenta, http://www.projectmagenta.com/pmsounds-software/ but not sure if thats what your trying to achive. Maybe another thing is triggering certain wav files though sioc or fsuipc ? .( Chris might know more bout triggering sounds via interface software.) Would be good if the add on weather programs also used there own sound Activesky rex etc . as these work over network, I was once told about a rumble seat that didnt use the sound as the rumble trigger but the forces of a game , so it was like a force feed back joystick that triggerd the bass shakers, Hope you get it sorted, will give ya a call soon,
Cheers

Hi Howard,
I think what a lot of people are doing in FSX is adding a USB headset and FSX allows multiple
audio devices. So i suppose one turns down all audio for enviroment and leaves ATC up for the USB
headset. The other audio goes to your speakers. I hav'nt done this myself but have read about it.

Hope this helps.
