The fast-growing Greek airline, Aegean Airlines, has ordered three more A320s. In total - including three additional A320s leased from ILFC - the airline has committed to 14 A320 Family aircraft and has a further nine options, according to the initial agreement signed in December 2005. Delivery is scheduled to take place between January 2007 and April 2009.

The new A320s will replace older aircraft in Aegean's fleet, and also be used for expansion from its Athens and Thessaloniki main bases. The airline is placing emphasis on expanding its network to the Balkans as well as further developing its six routes to Germany and Italy. Aegean's scheduled European operations include code-share flights with Lufthansa.

The airline's A320s will be equipped with a comfortable two-class layout, and be powered by IAE V2500 engines.

Theodoros Vassilakis, President and Managing Director of Aegean Airlines, explained that "our success on both domestic and international routes gives us the confidence and the drive to invest in a larger, modern fleet. Once the aircraft starts to join our fleet, Aegean will have the youngest fleet in our region to further support our commitment to quality to our customers."

"We are very proud to see a renewed order from Aegean Airlines so quickly after becoming a new Airbus customer in December 2005", said Christian Streiff, President and Chief Executive Officer of Airbus. "Golden Award winner of the year 2004/5, this successful airline has again been elected 2005/6 Silver "Award Airline of the Year" by the European Regions Airline Association. We are happy to contribute to the success of this dynamic airline with our market leading A320 Family."

The Airbus A320 Family is the first choice of airlines worldwide, and the market's fastest selling aircraft family. More than 4300 aircraft have been ordered to date by over 160 customers. Its cabin has been elected most comfortable cabin by independent surveys, as passengers prefer the greater space and comfort offered by the A320 Family cabin, including its wider seats. It also offers unparalleled economy and reliability. The A320 Family has the lowest fuel burn, emissions and noise footprints in their class.

Headquartered in Toulouse, France, Airbus is an EADS joint Company with BAE Systems.
