Hi

Looks like Jesper cancelled his offer.
I know the source for this screens http://www.aliexpress.com/product-gs/258550033-5-0-inch-TFT-LCD-module-wholesalers.html
Then everyone can order himself. I was thinking about placing one larger order, then shipping works cheapper but afterwards will have to ship to single customers which costs as well.

I will place my order for 2 screens, then If someone from UK wants to join PM me. Will wait untill next monday.

Regards, Marcin

Thanks Marcin, Probably the best way to go, even though it's a few dollars more..... :)

I got to thinking about this product a bit and started to be concerned of the quality/specs. LED lighting 200 mcd and the angles of view seems high. Anybody got any thoughts regarding those specs?

Hi Matt,
My thoughts as well, i think Brightness is ok, have another lcd here with that level. This one has a greater viewing angle of 140(H) 140(V) and so this does
seem low.Although guys were using PSone and there viewing angle wasnt great, but there again that varied as well as Sony used different LCD.I think it might have to be one of Buy and suck it and see.My other display was over twice this price. So it boils down to you get what u pay for.

But how much customs and fee's would you pay on top of the price importing this to uk?

Cheers.

I've just received email from supplier, and they will not declare for customs as long as quantity is up to few - testing sample (I've ask for 5). Then we can expect final price exactly as it's shown on their website.

I would be interested in finding out about that too. Particularly since in the Airbus cockpit the MCDU lays flat.

Ordered mine yesterday, same price.

I'm planning on ordering another nine at about $50 each if the sample I ordered fits the bill if there is interest. I'll sell them at cost plus shipping to any that are interested.

Philb737, if you're saying their good to go, I won't bother waiting for the one to arrive.

It seems around 130 to 140V at 3 to 4 feet away. In reality, the usable viewing angle of this display vertically is about positive 45 degrees to negative 10 degrees at best and that’s being generous:cool:.

How can you get this price if when I'am checking for 10 quantity and price is still 83.51 each? have you got any secred code?:)

By the way looks very good quality for me. I am placing my order!

No secret code Marcin...

I'm in contact with "Lisa". She is the sales manager at Good Display, in China. The order is directly through the company.

I was unwilling to commit to 10 right off the bat, so I asked her if I could get a sample. I ordered that at the price you see on Ali Baba.

The other nine are at bulk pricing. I can get as many as I want beyond that, I guess. She quoted me $51.48, and confirmed in later mail. Shipping will be $120 for the nine units for a total cost of about $580. That puts each unit at ABOUT $64 AFTER SHIPPING. That is about a $20 price savings delivered to me. The issue is that then you have to look at further delivery to anyone that would want one. via USPS, it wil probably be about $10 so... delivered price would be about $75.

Is that cost savings worth it (about $6)? Since guys are already receiving their orders, it is not a scam, which would be the first thing to keep any of us from ordering. $81 is a great price after shipping.... to the US.

Matt, there are two links for purchase. One for a 5 inch, and one for a 5.6 inch. One had the price you paid, one the price we paid ($81). They are the same model though.

It will save you a bit more on additional ones:

I just received my screen... It looks fine....

One thing... it did not come with a power adapter, and I can't see anything that points to what type/rating to get.

Did anyone else's come with a power adapter?

Philb737
06-02-2010, 10:20 PM
No power adapter with my shipment:cry:,
I tried two different power supplies, first one was a 9.0v 2.0 amp and the 2nd one was a 12v 5.0 amp power supply without any problems!:)

I did the same... got it working. Matter of fact, I got it working with a 5V 2100mA also. That opens up new possibilities with USB.

Unfortunately, I also just broke my new screen! It's a very tenuous relationship between the VGA cable, the power cable, the PC board, and the screen.... at one point the weight of the vga cable I was using to connect it to my laptop pulled the screen off the table.... I caught it, but the orange ribbon cable ripped.

SO... be extra careful until it's mounted. I emailed "Lisa" to see if I could get a replacement cable. It a weird one, FFC/FPC type, but... one end plugs in with a LIF socket while the other uses some type of adhesive.

Is anyone interested in my ordering any of these screens for them at the price I discussed earlier in the thread? I need two more, so I'm ordering either way. In the end the savings is only about $5-10 after you pay for shipping to me, then on to you.

Regardless, if you want me to order any, let me know in the next day or two. If you're in Greece, I can probably hand carry a couple at the end of the month when I come over. That would put your cost at about $67.

Nice! I see you mounted the control buttons on the bottom. How do you access them?

Great job though. I've got my three to build two CDUs and an MIDU that I will use for VATSIM. Paid $52 each and $18 for shipping.

Yes, they are under and there is no access to them once unit is mounted into pedestal, but they are useless for day to day work. Unit powers up automatically once power is on, other switch only switching between video and VGA input, last two are for OSD menu.

Does this company have any LCD screens that would work for the Upper and/or Lower EICAS screen displays? Mainly, the lower, but this would be good for Upper to save space for gear handle and secondary gauges.

Hi Shawn,
The data sheet for this display is as follows,

Power supply voltage:DC9~15V(Type12V 280mA±20mA )
So any supply with a min current rating of say .3 amp would be fine. I always go for something a bit bigger than the minimum.
Hope this helps.
