I've been trying to get Project Magenta to work again every since I reinstalled
FS2004 several weeks ago and upgraded to Windows 7. Yesterday, for the first time in several weeks, I finally got Project Magenta working, everything communicating and reporting that all was ok. Flew from JFK to BOS and everything worked great! This afternoon I turned on my cockpit computers and nothing is working again.

This is what I have done and checked and rechecked today and many other times.

Updated Windows 7 Invidia Graphics Drivers for both computers.
Firewalls turned off on both computers and no virus protection.

On client computer (COCKPIT-2)
Re-Installed and registered PFD, CDU, MCP, PMSYSTEMS all in C:\ root directory.
Ran pmcheckver and installed latest updates
Shared each folder: PFD, CDU, etc. with Homegroup and everyone with full
:oops::oops::oops::oops::oops::oops:read/right access.
Shared Netdir as "Netdir" with full read/right access.
Added to wideserver.ini file:
Servername=COCKPIT-1
ProtocolPreferred=TCP

In the cdu.ini file under [NETWORK] I changed to Type=CDU

On Server computer (COCKPIT-1)
Shared FS folder: F:\FS2004 with full read/right access.
Shared Flight Simulator Files as "FSPLANS" with full read/right access.

Started FS and PM programs.

FS2004 title bar says "WideServer: 1 connected
WideClient title bar says "WideClient FS98 ELIMINATOR-Connected

But nothing else is working.
Glass cockpit is not responding to FS or CDU
I press CTRL-O on the PFD and it reports:

NETDIR
LAST CDU TYPE 737-700
LAST CDU PLAN
INTERNAL ACF
CONNECTED WIDEFS
FS ACTIVE
MCP---
CDU---
PMSYS---
LAST SYSVAR 4/19/2010 6 51 44 AM
MODE CAPTAIN
FSUIPC 0.000
NAVDATA 123393 ENTRIES
USETIMER---

EICAS shows 2 engines although I am flying a 747
CDU-Controls nothing on FS or the GC
CDU Options says:

NETDIR:
NO CDU
Connected IPC: 0

I entered 747 in the cdu but it still has the 737 keypad.

PMSYSTEMS-Nothing works/moves but the battery switch

Ran pmfilecheck:

Local Path: C:\CDU

Checking Computer and User Name
Local Computer Name: COCKPIT-2
Local User Name: JERRYMC3

FSUIPC/WideFS found!
FSUIPC No Version number Reported! Please Check FSUIPC Installation

No data from Flight Simulator, FS doesn't appear to be running!

This is making me crazy. I don't understand why I'm having so much trouble.
Project Magenta ran just fine for several months on Windows Vista until I installed FS on a new 1.5 TB hard drive and its been giving me grief every since. Is anyone else struggling with these problems?

Jerry,

I have my setup using Windows 7, FSX and PM running fine, although it did take a bit of tweaking to get the Windows 7 machine and the 3 XP machines talking to each other.

You are not specific on what OS the clients are using, but i presume you wouldn't have upgraded them all to Windows 7. If this is the case and the clients are XP, then Homegroup is your issue and i can help you with this.

Regards
Ben

For FSUIPC or WideFS questions it is best to ask in my Support Forum, as advertised.

The symptoms you are getting are normally a result of either an invalid FSUIPC or WideFS registration key, or, much more likely, a date set on your FS PC which is earlier than your registration date, so making it look as if the keys are invalid. Check the system date and correct it.

If you still have problems, first make sure you are fully up to date (i.e. using current supported versions), then find the FSUIPC, wideServer and WideClient log files and show them on my Support Forum.

I am away on holiday from later today until May 5th though.

Regards
Pete

I upgraded both my cockpit computers to Windows 7. The server is 64-bit but the client is 32-bit. Don't think that makes any difference. I will check the date on both computers though.
