Hi there,

i just bought at step one the overhead indicator boxes from opencockpits:
http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/overhead-indicators-p-166.html?cPath=23_25_42

But i didn't find any description how they will be mounted later on in the Overhead panel. http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/panels-overhead-p-169.html?cPath=23_25_42

And how they will be build together the 4 single pieces.
I think the leds will be placed from behind throught the holes (like in the picture)but how do you get them fixed and not fall out of the construction?

I have to say, that i don't own the overhead kit yet, so i cant try to get them fit into. I only want to prepare the boxes so that i have later not so much to do ;-)

Can someone post some pictures of your solution and maybe some pictures with the boxes built into the overhead ??

Thanks alot,
Mark

You need to glue the plastic components together using a glue such as "Plastic Weld" or similar. Then you push the completed assembly through the hole in the front face of the overhead panel. The leds can be lightly glued in place with either plastic or heat gun glue. I have not yet assembled mine else I would attach a photo - however, it is a logical assembly order if you look at their photo on the web. The order of components from the outside face of the overhead is black legend, thin open rectangle, wider open rectangle, solid rectangle with holes for led.

Hi David,

yes, i would also think that "gluing" is the only working method in the order you described:
The order of components from the outside face of the overhead is black legend, thin open rectangle, wider open rectangle, solid rectangle with holes for led.

So i can start building the boxes and when i have the overhead i can put them into the hole.
Do you know if they are self fitting into the overhead panel, or is there a need to be fixed ??
Can you please send me a photo of one attached box into the overhead?
Thanks alot.

As advised in my earlier post I have not yet built the annunciators, so no photo is available. I would expect that the completed annunciators are a "press fit" into the panel, howver, if not then a simple bit of glue would solve the problem.
