Why are the EFIS panels smaller than the MCP???

Probably because the electronics of the 737 has been used to cut costs. Panel wise this can be solved easily. The 747 efis is somewhat higher and has some space below the pushbuttons.

If you look closely you will also notice the pushbuttons are in a 737 format with engraved backlit texts, whereas the 747 has blank pushbuttons.

A small compromise to reduce costs.

Well I'm not a 747 driver but, boy they did it again. Great work FE and CPF.

The Efis in the picture is a 737 efis in brown. Its just there to complete the picture. The units shown are preproduction versions as a sneak preview, but the retail version will have a full size 747 EFIS, we are working on the designs for the lightplate right now.
