View Full Version : OMG! These exchange rates are killing me! :-(

Man, I was going to purchase the Sim-Avionics Full Edition suite, which is currently listed at 299. I thought it was Euros, so that would've meant I would have to pay $423.59 USD.

But low and behold, Sim-Avionics deals in British Pounds! When I went to PayPal to make the payment, I have to pay $505.70 USD! :( I really don't think I will be able to afford this. The worst part is that Sim-Avionic's pricing will go up this month. This means that I will definitely not afford Sim-Avionics at these exchange rates. This adds Sim-Avionics to the growing list of avionics suites which cannot be easily afforded, such as Project Magenta.

:( This is really putting a damper on my home cockpit simulation hobby and I'm afraid that I will have to call it quits soon.

hello hondacop........
bad news chap.....sim avionics got a OMG!, go and try and buy the equivalent PM, you will need a couple of days off work work to get better :o
but it doesn't end there, on no sir.....then there's the MCP, the radios, the TQ (have you priced a motorised TQ delivered in US$ yet?) the pedestal, the interfaces etc etc etc.
did i mention the visuals? :o
so, that's why a lot of us get innovative and do it on our own. there are some very talented guy's out there.
if you are not careful, building a cockpit can be like having a hole in your garden that you throw most of your salary in :o
don't be despondent, walk away from it for a couple of days and think it out. if you miss it, you'll find a direction, if you don't then it's time to take up basket weaving :o
i really hope you get to sort it (you can always do some overtime :o )
and if it makes you feelany better, when i do my upgrade, i'm going with sim-avionics.
best regards and good luck.... ian

LOL Thanks for those words of encouragement. I will probably end up buying it today anyway, since I think the software is well worth it, considering what it accomplishes and how well it does it, compared to the more expensive alternative. It's just that it's not easy to swallow investing so much on a single aspect of our hobby, especially in today's economy and even more when I'm in the process of purchasing a house. ;)

Hi Hakan! I would have to look for the files I had already created but I just can't remember where I place them in. I have 5 PCs running and about 3 additional HDDs which I used to have as backup drives but these aren't connected right now. As soon as I find the files, I will let you know. I never got to finish it and get approval from LevelD in order to release them though.
