Hi

In an effort to try and keep people more informed (I have been told that customers don't always understand what is included in major updates or we don't get the information across from the changes.txt) this time I made a summary list from our development work as Enrico and I worked through certain things. Updates for both Boeing and Airbus. This may not meet everyones needs / lists (there is a long list of expectations) the update reflect specific requirements as much as anything else for Boeing. For Airbus the process is currently on-going. Beta builds are starting to be made avialable. A lot of flight testing has already been done showing good results. Final releases will be made soon for those not wishing to run betas.

The Boeing update covers:

•TOGA mode logic improvements for take-off
•GA Logic changed / corrected flap / manoeuvring speed computations corrected
•Second GA mode added (press TOGA a second time to get more PWR [if required])
•Flap 10 indication corrected (for approach flap) 737
•N1 / TOGA / CLB indications changed / FMA / EICAS
•CDU fixed 1500ft default Thrust Reduction altitude (737)
•SEL TEMP & TO1 / 2 & CLB1 & 2 de-rates corrected & checked
•CDU runway first waypoint computation corrected (part of SID or pilot entry or pilot manual entry)
•Major changes to improve CDU / Magenta line route handling / drawing and computation - should be another step to provide you with more graphically correct computations.
•ENG OUT Perf page started (not complete) place holder
•N1 page changed to reflect more 737 type specific indication (changed from the 747 'look') be aware of slight operational use difference as well.
•LVL Change logic made less aggressive, this is very flight model specific but it should help to improve altitude captures making them smoother when approaching target and in acquire mode.
•FD in vertical mode, changes to handling, makes more 'positive' commands to pilot for corrective action.
•FD in Roll mode, improves commands, making the FD easier to follow, especially in heading / roll-outs. Extra dampening added for the rollout onto headings, this means less aggressive roll out required by pilot. Should improve FD performance in manual flight. (Results may vary depending on Flight model).
•GC changed to be able to use the new separate flight control FSUIPC offset for those with tiller steering, this enables the facility to make the pre-flight full deflection rudder check, before this was not possible *if* a tiller was in use due to the ground speed mixing facilities.
•pmSystems improvements in speed of variable handling made

Please note we can't always provide lists like this, only when we go through a major update I think, not the smaller corrections. The smaller corrections the best source is the changes.txt file.

Jonathan

first, thank you for the detail information, thanks and many greetings to Enrico also :D

Because, PM is direct connected with Fs's flight model and Cdu.txt files, it will be better for all of us, that PM will release in the near feature, these files officialy and propose them for better results with PM's s/w.

To clarify, they are released in the latest part of the update folder.

>these files officialy and propose them for better results with PM's s/w.

For now they are in progress builds, but I think in general, you would see an improvement if you wanted to try them.

I can't get into the Airbus side right now other than to say it is in progress. We can't provide a list until it is finished because we have some things closed, some things half closed and varios open / testing etc etc It will be a comprehensive update though.

Jonathan,

not sure that i understood your reply.
In latest page (http://www.projectmagenta.com/downloads/builds/latest/) there is nothing new, exept pminst8a.zip

In updates page, there are the latest official builds (i didn't download them yet).
There is nothing new also in aircraft files or "mods" section.

Probably you was meaning these latest builds, not aircaft's flight models and cdu.txt files, right?

There are many new builds in there. Please re-check.

Bit of a confusion here, we do not provide or update aircraft models or any CDU. type.txt files, they are always user edits - we only ever provided the basic base files. Not really sure how we got confused here from my original post. All performance characteristics can be effected by your own flight models and type txt files, that was the main thrust of the comments re flight models.

Ok, that was clear, this was Pm's policy from the day1.

My post, was for suggest you, to work for these, so you will propose with your products, specific freeware or payware or your custom-made models with all files working perfect (cfg, txt etc).

Just a thought......anyway.....

Once more, thanks for new versions

So, i don't know if it is happening only with me using the new builds, in TAKE OFF REF page (CDU), V1, VR and V2 are missing the first number (1) and of course showing wrong V1,VR at PFD speed tape. To make me more clear for example when selecting flaps 5 for take off it shows V1 28, VR 29 and V2 32 and not 128, 129 and 132. Approach page shows all speeds correct...

Anyone have this little problem?

Flushing a new route it worked normally again, so i think that the problem was here in my sim with my first fly with those new builds !:D

Hello to all the Team,

Great thanks for those major new versions. have tested during two different flights (PM Boeing) and it works great ..... yess :). Probably connected with the 10th Anniversary of PM ;)

Once more many thanks

Jonathan,

thanks for the effort. Looking forward to try and see the results.
Will these improvements have effect on the manuals?

Tried the new stuff last night on a short hop from EHRD to EDDF.

A few things were noticed and I'd like to know if others have the same experience before I drop Jonathan a line (maybe these are already known items that are on the list-to-deal-with).

* Speed restrictions are not well kept. Between 2 points that have a 220 kts restriction (ROLIS 25 transition) the speed bug jumps back to 250 and the plane accelerates.
* I could not load an earlier saved CO route EHRDEDDF. [PROBLEM SOLVED by renaming file]
* I encountered more "disconnections" between the hardware CDU and the CDU program than usual. I mean that pressing keys on the (FDS) hardware CDU doesn't work until you click with the mouse pointer on the screen of the pc that actually runs de CDU program (as if it has to become active again).
