Does anyone have a source for GA style knobs for an ALPS EC11EBB24C03 concentric encoder?

What I am looking for is something that would be on a KX155B nav/com and other GA avionics.

Here is a link (http://www.lonestarflyers.com/images/N348ME-6.JPG) to a pic.

Thanks!

I got mine from Vmax about a year ago, but cannot find any reference on their website anymore

Andy

EDIT: found them on http://www.cockpitsonicusa.com/ see Accessories
They have different knobs though, not the original narrow black ones, but gray big ones.

I dont know if for that encoder but I know you can buy them from the good folks at GoFlight. They sell the dual encoder from Alps as well.

I ordered a pair of encoders with these knobs and they are indeed huge and would look very out of place in a GA aircraft.

Does anyone have a better picture of what these concentric knobs look like? The picture on GoFlight's site is horrible.

Thanks!

Coincidentally I emailed the cockpitsonicusa folks this morning with a couple of questions on this encoder/knob and Manolo responded very promptly. Answered my questions and also told me that he is currently out of stock of the knobs. His vendor has run out and stopped production so he is looking for another supplier. Hopefully your order was placed/shipped before that happened.

I have been following your progress through your posts here and at your blog. Very good stuff as I am hoping to get a 172 pit together some day. Not as ambitious as yours due to limitations in my skill set ( I would never tackle a DIY gauge for instance ) but it gives me some excellent ideas. Also tempts me to try some "simpler" tasks like your key switch. Just curious why you went with a 4-pole, 3-position switch that you modified to be a 1-pole, 5-position switch as opposed to buying a 1-pole, 5-position switch to start with. Was it simply because you had (or could get) the 4-pole , 3-position switch already?

Keep us GA folks updated, it is an excellent resource for us.

Cheers, Dave

In this photo you can see the GoFlight Rotary knobs and in my homemade GPS you can see the same type knob on dual encoder that I ordered from GoFLight.

Do you know what i hate about building my GA simpit?

Is the fact that if you cant afford simkits or real guages for your sim and you have to rely on software guages, you always have to position the software gauges (i.e screen) ON TOP of your yoke because there is no way of displaying a guage either side of your yoke!

More knob options on the left as well.

Hi Dave,
I bought that switch at my local electronics surplus store thinking it was a 1-pole, 12-position switch since that would give me the degree spacing I wanted and I could simply use 5 of the 12 positions. When I was building and went to take a closer look I realized it was a 4-pole, 3-position switch. Oops. :D A little hackery later and I had a 1-pole, 5-position switch.

Thanks, that helps a lot. These are certainly closer to what I am wanting. I also have my eye on eBay with the idea of getting the real knobs and casting more.
