Have a look at this new type of actuator. Would make motion platform building much easier. The only drawback I see is the specified speed, which at 15mm/sec is somewhat slow for fast motion effects. Since they contacted me, I'll ask them for some price indication.

To my question for higher speed I received the following answer from the makers of this new actuator:

" The constraints on the speed is purely a matter of the max. power output of a motor with a certain diameter. As we wanted a COMPACT actuator (but with a lifting capacity of 200kg), we needed a motor with a diameter of max 45mm. If you can accept a height of the actuator of e.g. 70mm, then we can use a ø65 motor (= much more power). And then faster speed will be possible."

On the price:
" Right now we sell beta versions of our actuator (non CE marked) and these prices are very high. Later this year the product enters into volume production and then prices will be lowered. The official price list will be published at the launch of the product which will happen in a weeks time"

So we'll have to see how this develops. This type of actuator could have many applications, so production volumes could be quite high, which will lower the price considerably.

All in all a very neat design.

That is incredible. The right price would reall open up an entirely new way to add motion to the home built sim.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Roland,

What an interesting actuator!
It looks like something I could use in another application where the primary constraint is the physical actuator assembly height!
Many thanks!

Below is another site I discovered and have ordered a couple of actuators to experiment with. It may interest some.
