View Full Version : Elevator Trim at Touchdown

Hi guys,

I'd like to know how the elevator trim performs in the A320 at touchdown.

I mean, does it set automatically to zero when the wheels are on the ground, maybe after the GS goes below a certain value? Or maybe it just remains at it's last position before touchdown?

Thanks for your inputs!!

Automatically sets to Zero after Touchdown.

That's convenient.

The 727 requires manually trimming nose down to five units or less.

OK, thanks. That's what I thought.

And doesn't that make the nose of the aircraft to abruptly fall at touchdown?

I mean: With a certain pull of the sidestick you perform the flare, and if when the main gear touches the ground the elevator trim falls down to zero, the same sidestick deflection will not hold the aircraft in the same position? (ie. the effect is that the nose is "pulled down" to the ground?

I guess that even if the trim elevator is commanded a zero position, it takes some seconds to achieve that position, so there is time enough to nicely set the nose gear down.

In FS, when you command a zero of the trim elevator it sets abruptly to zero, and thus, the nose gear slams to the ground. I will program a stepped reduction of the nose gear to emulate the real thing. That may be a workaround.

What are other's findings here?

Thanks again!!
