This is probably a dumb question, but I can't seem to find any info.

Can a servo be moved manually when there is no power applied to it? Say, for instance I have a spoiler lever attached to a servo that needs to be moved manually in some situations...

Hi,

It's a very sensible question in fact. You need to be able to do this if you want to override auto controls, such as autothrottle.

Take a look at this article about creating autothrottles, as I seem to remember there being a piece on the type of servo recommended. You need a high torque servo for this kind of application, but higher torque servos can also be more difficult to move when not activated. There is a recommendation for a servo that is high torque and allows this movement, so this should be of interest.
