Was looking at simulator websites, and came across this picture:

Does anyone know how he wired the wires to the male IDE connector? For example, the blue wire going from the pot has a little light green piece connecting it to the male IDE connector... what is that? And is this the preferred way to wire opencockpit boards?

Well I had noticed this in some other sites but couldn't find those cables either... thanks to you I convinced myself to take another in depth look.

Here's what I came up with:

connector

and sets:

heat-shrink tubing:

of course I would suggest a detailed look at these to determine correct size before ordering.

connector pin troughs (similar)

I could be wrong, but looks like he has soldered to the pin and put green shrink tubing on it..

But could be wrong.

Would soldering be the best option? I'm still all confused about the most efficient way of wiring, with the possibility of changing inputs later on.

I use these for switch and LED to Simboard connections.

For switches solder the open wire ends to the switch and connect other end to simboard. For LEDs, push the LED into the connector and crimp pins onto the open wire ends which you then connect to the simboard. Saves a lot of hassle and time.

Ralph

With opencockpit IO cards?
